On the occasion of GACL’s Incorporation Day, Honourable Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel virtually dedicated India’s largest Chlorotoluenes Plant, set up by Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) at Dahej.

This new plant, a significant initiative by GACL, will utilize chlorine in-house to manufacture value-added, chlorine-based products such as Benzyl Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, and Benzaldehyde.

The newly inaugurated plant has been built at a cost of ₹350 crore and has a production capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum. The facility is expected to generate approximately 1,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Through exports of these chemicals to regions like Europe, America, and South Asia, the plant is expected to contribute nearly ₹130 crore in foreign exchange earnings.

On this occasion, the Honourable Chief Minister extended his congratulations to the GACL family for the successful commencement of this new plant and lauded the organisation’s 50-year journey of growth and achievement.

Providing further details, GACL’s Managing Director and Secretary to the Chief Minister, Ms. Avantika Singh, IAS stated that GACL, a Gujarat Government initiative established in 1973, currently operates three production units—two in Dahej and one in Vadodara—manufacturing over 35 products, including caustic soda.

Over the past five decades, GACL has continuously expanded its operations by increasing production capacities and introducing new products. The company currently holds an annual production capacity of over 8,00,000 metric tonnes of caustic soda, and takes pride in being the only producer of Sodium Chlorate and Hydrazine Hydrate in India.

Dignitaries present during the virtual inauguration included Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, Chief Minister’s Advisor Shri S.S.
