Honourable PM dedicates GACL’s Chloromethanes, Caustic Soda Expansion, Hydrazine Hydrate and GNAL project to the Nation

Honourable PM Shri Narendrabhai Modi virtually dedicated Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited’s (GACL) Chloromethanes, Caustic Soda Expansion and Hydrazine Hydrate project along with the joint venture with National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) – GACL- NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. (GNAL) to the nation on 10th October 2022. Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

With the expansion of its caustic soda plant capacity from 785 TPD to 1310 TPD at Dahej, the Company will increase its Caustic Soda market share from the current share of 11% to 17%. This expansion project is undertaken at an investment of ₹550 Crores. GACL has also established a state-of-the-art chloromethane plant having 1,05,000 TPA capacity at an investment of ₹850 Crores. This plant will enable them to manufacture Methyl Chloride, Methylene Chloride, Chloroform and Carbon Tetrachloride. By adding this capacity GACL will bridge the import demand of Methylene Chloride and help our country to become self- reliant for this product. The third plant established by GACL is the Hydrazine Hydrate plant with a capacity of 10,000 MTA at an investment of ₹405 crores. This product will be manufactured by a patented eco-friendly process. The patent for this process was jointly given to GACL & CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad by the Patent Office, Government of India and the United States Patents & Trademark Office. GACL also became the first Company in India to manufacture this speciality chemical. The world-class quality of Hydrazine Hydrate and Methylene Chloride will help the nation in reducing imports. It will save priceless foreign exchange and help the nation in taking a step forward to the creation of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

The other venture to be dedicated to the nation was the joint venture enterprise between Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO). The new company is called GACL-NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. (GNAL).
